So unless you’ve been living under a rock, you’ll probably know that the prime news for quite a long while now has been the Haitian Earthquake 2010.
Just a brief, first hit by a 7.0 magnitude earthquake sometime last week. And then many frequent aftershocks as well, some hitting 6.0 on the Ritcher scale. (Did I spell it right?)
Anyhow, the main story is that it’s somewhat the biggest catastrophe of Haiti’s human history, estimating death toll at 100,000 to 200,000 people. Buildings have been flattened, bodies decomposing everywhere, no medical aid.

Flattened buildings everywhere.
.
The Haitian government has also been moving homeless people out of the affected capital of Port-au-Prince to Port Jeremie too.

But I mean, look at how crowded the ferries are. Dangerously overcrowded.
But eventually, these people are going to need homes too
Anyhow, CityCare has been arranging and sending teams of doctors, nurses and disaster relief workers over there to help out in anyway possible, largely on the medical side though. It’s a great work that they’re doing there, reaching out to them, showing them love and concern while treating their injuries and such.
Many of you are probably wondering how you can help the people there, either through giving or prayers. Contact your own local Red Cross Society or Mercy Relief for more information. For Singaporean folks, especially those who want to go over and help, CityCare is looking for trained doctors and nurses. Do email haitirelief@citycare.org for more information.
